EU AI Act Compliance Software

European AI Regulation. Narrate gives you everything you need to achieve and maintain certification — gap assessment, policy templates, evidence management, and AI-powered analysis.

What is EU AI Act?

The EU AI Act is the European Union's comprehensive regulation on artificial intelligence. It establishes a risk-based framework for AI systems, with requirements ranging from transparency obligations to strict controls for high-risk AI applications.

How Narrate helps with EU AI Act

Purpose-built AI Governance tools that cover every obligation, assessment, and documentation requirement in the regulation.

EU AI Act Compliance Tracking — Per-obligation compliance tracking across 16 EU AI Act obligations (Articles 9–15, 17, 27, 43, 48–50, 72–73). Obligation groups cover Conformity Assessment, Transparency, Registration, and Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment (FRIA). Track status per obligation — Not Started, In Progress, Compliant, or Non-Compliant — and assign evidence notes with completion dates.
FRIA Template (Article 27) — Built-in Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment template with 9 structured questions covering rights assessment, proportionality, and safeguards. Complete your FRIA directly in-platform without external tools or spreadsheets.
Technical Documentation Generator (Annex IV) — 8 sections auto-populated from your AI system data with markdown export. Generates the technical documentation required by Annex IV of the EU AI Act from your existing AI system inventory — no separate document authoring needed.
AI System Risk Classification — Register AI systems with EU AI Act risk categories (Minimal, Limited, High, Unacceptable). Track autonomy level, data sensitivity, and decision impact scores. Configure behavioural controls including data input validation, output filtering, human oversight, bias monitoring, privacy controls, security controls, model drift monitoring, and explainability.
Three Structured Risk Assessments — DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment), Bias & Fairness Assessment, and Security Assessment. Questionnaire-based scoring with risk level calculation (Low / Medium / High / Critical). Assessment history is preserved, and you can promote recommendations directly to the Risk Register.
Alignment Integration — Each EU AI Act obligation links to its corresponding control in the compliance assessment. Cross-system compliance counts show "X/Y AI Systems" per obligation across all registered systems, giving you a single view of organisation-wide AI Act readiness.

Common EU AI Act challenges

Regulation is here. These are the hurdles organisations face in getting compliant.

Risk Classification Uncertainty

Determining whether your AI systems fall under unacceptable, high-risk, limited, or minimal risk categories requires deep understanding of Annex III and sector-specific rules.

Documentation Requirements

High-risk systems require technical documentation, conformity assessments, and transparency disclosures. The volume of required documentation is substantial.

FRIA Obligations

Fundamental Rights Impact Assessments are mandatory for high-risk AI. Most organisations have no framework for conducting or documenting these.

Evolving Timelines

Different provisions take effect at different dates through 2027. Tracking which obligations apply now versus later requires careful planning.
